The oil-immersed transformer is a new type of high-performance transformer with a more reasonable structure and better performance. Its three-dimensional rolled iron core features a three-core column arrangement in the form of equilateral triangles. There are no air gaps in the magnetic circuit, and the winding is more compact. The three magnetic circuits have the same length and are the shortest. The cross-sectional area of the iron core columns is closer to a circle. As a result, its performance is further enhanced, losses are reduced, noise is lowered, three-phase balance is achieved, and the third harmonic components are reduced. This product is more suitable for urban and rural, as well as industrial and mining enterprise power grid renovations, and is more applicable to combined transformers and pre-assembled substations transformers.

Oil-immersed transformers use oil as the main insulation method and rely on oil as the cooling medium, such as oil-immersed self-cooling, oil-immersed air-cooling, oil-immersed water-cooling, and forced oil circulation, etc. The main components of a transformer include the core, windings, oil tank, oil reservoir, respirator, explosion-proof tube (pressure release valve), heat exchanger, insulation bushing, tap changer, gas relay, thermometer, and purifier, etc. 

In the interlayers of the silicon steel sheets of an oil-immersed transformer, due to the long-term immersion in the transformer, oil can seep in. Moreover, the transformer oil has elasticity and serves as a buffer. Therefore, an oil-immersed transformer produces less noise. However, the voltage regulating switch is inside the oil tank. When adjusting the voltage, it is impossible to see whether the switch contacts properly from the outside. If the contact is not good, it is equivalent to a break in that circuit. If the contact is not good, when the load is too large, the switch is prone to burn out.
